Anxious Nation Film Screening

  • Savoy Theater 26 Main Street Montpelier, VT, 05602 United States (map)

The National Alliance on Mental Illness of Vermont (NAMI Vermont), with the support of other state community organizations, is bringing the documentary Anxious Nation (2022) to communities statewide during the fall of 2023. These screenings are free to the public thanks to a grant from the Vermont Community Foundation.

This event will feature a free screening of the documentary followed by a facilitated Q&A session. No registration necessary. The screening will take place at the Savoy Theater in downtown Montpelier. This event is offered in partnership with Elevate Youth Services, the Central Vermont Prevention Coalition, and the Montpelier Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) Program.

In this film, Academy Award-winning director Vanessa Roth and first-time co-director Laura Morton thoughtfully unfold the epidemic of anxiety and explore why we are such an anxious nation. The film sets out to lift the shroud of shame around mental health while giving emotional insights into how anxiety shows up in our children’s lives, impacts families, and what parents’ contributing role may be in the journey. The filmmakers offer deep insights into how we got here and what we can do to harness anxious energy for good.
